Drafting my Music Magazine

Drafting:

Using Photoshop, I decided to try and bring my design into life from the designs on the paper that I drew in the other post to photoshop on the computer, when I will eventually make my final and completed magazine. These are my drafts: (The photographs used are from GOOGLE IMAGES - I have used them to see what my magazine may look like).

Draft of the Front Cover
On the Front Cover, I will have a String Duo, consisting of a white female violinist and a black male cellist. They will either be on a stage with a light on them playing their instruments or they will be in a room with other instruments behind them.

Draft of the Contents Page
On the Contents Page, I will have three groups. The first group will be the portrait photograph on the left. Their group will consist of two males playing the flute and the clarinet.

On the Contents Page, I will have three groups. The second group will be the first landscape photograph on the right. Their group will consist of two males and two females, who are all singers.

On the Contents Page, I will have three groups. The third group will be the second landscape photograph on the right.Their group will consist of two male musicians, who play the flute and clarinet and two females, who are singers.

Draft of the Double Page Spread
On the Double Page Spread, I will have a String Duo from the Front Cover.

Music Magazine Name

Name:

I decided in my pitch, that the name of my music magazine would be Classic Ensemble. Using Microsoft Powerpoint, I created a text box with Cataneo BT font, which has a classic look. The font size used was 54 and Enlarged the 'E' of Ensemble to the font size of 100. I then took away the 'C' of Classic and the 'S' in Ensemble and replaced them with a Bass Clef and a Treble Clef. I made sure that the 'E', the bass clef and the treble clef were all the same size. I placed the Bass Clef and the Treble Clef in their places and turned round the Bass Clef to look like a 'C'. These are the Bass Clef and the Treble Clef.

Treble Clef
I grouped the words and copied them into PAINT, saving them as a JPEG. This is what the Name of my magazine looks like:

Music Magazine Pitch

The Music Magazine Pitch's choices have come from my MARKET RESEARCH and previous research done on Classical Music Magazines on my blog.

(AFTER CLICKING ON THE LINK - PRESS THE 'PRESENT' BUTTON, THEN THE PLAY BUTTON IN THE BOTTOM LEFT HAND CORNER TO HEAR THE VOICE MEMOS AS THE PRESENTATION CONTINUES. YOU DO NOT NEED TO USE THE ARROWS, AS THE PRESENTATION WILL CONTINUE AFTER EACH OF THE VOICE MEMOS HAVE FINISHED).

Market Research (2) - Expectations, Wants and Needs

ANSWERS TO QUESTIONNAIRE:

My audience as said before ranges from 25-40 year olds, of both genders. I asked people from my target audience age group what they wanted, needed and expected to be in my magazine.

Below, in the EMAZE PRESENTATION each chart will explain the outcome of what my audience thought should be in my magazine or  not be in my magazine. I got this information from my questionnaire that I conducted in the previous post.

My School Prospectus - Draft and Photographs

Designing the Draft:

Before I could make my finalised School Prospectus Front Cover and Contents Page, I needed to make a design of the draft, to follow through what I wanted the pages to look like. Using Photoshop, I designed my drafts of the Front Cover and the Contents Page. This what the drafts looked like:

FRONT COVER:

CONTENTS PAGE:

Ideas for the Stories on the Contents Page:

Photographs:

I took many photographs. Here are all of them with an explanation of why I chose or didn't choose each photograph:

I chose to include this photograph in my School Prospectus (Preliminary Task) because it shows a Sixth Former working in a Study Room and using his time wisely during his Study Periods. This photograph will be included on my FRONT COVER.

I chose to include this photograph in my School Prospectus (Preliminary Task) because it shows one of the many facilities that the school has, which is a Library and it helps all students at the school. This photograph will be included on my FRONT COVER.

I chose to include this photograph in my School Prospectus (Preliminary Task) because it is a MEDIUM SHOT of a Sixth Former in front of the St Mark's Sign. This photograph will be included on my CONTENTS PAGE.

I chose to include this photograph in my School Prospectus (Preliminary Task) because it shows the talent of the students at St Mark's and shows people that St Mark's is full of opportunities. This photograph will be included on my FRONT COVER.

I didn't choose to include this photograph in my School Prospectus (Preliminary Task) because I believe that it wouldn't add anything else to the Front Cover or the Contents Page.

I chose to include this photograph in my School Prospectus (Preliminary Task) because it shows one of the many facilities that the school has, which is the Music Department. This photograph will be included on my FRONT COVER.

I chose to include this photograph in my School Prospectus (Preliminary Task) because it shows two people working together in class and shows people that we are a school that support one another and work together to do well in our studies and exams. This photograph will be included on my FRONT COVER.

didn't choose to include this photograph in my School Prospectus (Preliminary Task) because I already have two photographs with a person doing something in it.

I chose to include this photograph in my School Prospectus (Preliminary Task) because it shows one of the many facilities that the school has, which is the Design and Technology Department, showing people that the students have many opportunities to express themselves through designing and making things. This photograph will be included on my FRONT COVER.

I chose to include this photograph in my School Prospectus (Preliminary Task) because I will use this as the middle photograph between the two sets of three on the Front Cover to show people what the School Prospectus is about. This photograph will be included on my FRONT COVER.

Nature Magazine (Practising with Photoshop)

PHOTOSHOP (The Nature Magazine Front Cover):

To practice using the software of Photoshop, I designed a Nature Magazine Front Cover. I took the photographs with my group of Daniel, Ani and Nicole. These were my six photographs:

I then started to use Photoshop. After placing my chosen photograph as my background, I changed the brightness, added a Title, two stories, the date and the price. However, I wanted to add another photograph. I chose an image of a bird from Google Images (as it is practice) and decided to try out how to take out the background and leave the image with just the bird. I took me a while, but I learnt how to do it by using the lasso tool. Once I finished with the bird, I copied it over to my magazine front cover and decided on two cover stories to finish it.

This is the final front cover:
