Market Research (2) - Expectations, Wants and Needs
ANSWERS TO QUESTIONNAIRE:
My audience as said before ranges from 25-40 year olds, of both genders. I asked people from my target audience age group what they wanted, needed and expected to be in my magazine.
Below, in the EMAZE PRESENTATION each chart will explain the outcome of what my audience thought should be in my magazine or not be in my magazine. I got this information from my questionnaire that I conducted in the previous post.

QUESTIONNAIRE:
My audience as said before ranges from 25-40 year olds, of both genders. I asked people from my target audience age group what they wanted, needed and expected to be in my magazine.
I have made a questionnaire for my Target Audience to answer. I made a presentation on EMAZE to show each of my questions. (AFTER CLICKING ON THE LINK - PRESS THE 'PLAY' BUTTON IN THE TOP RIGHT CORNER AND USE THE ARROW BUTTONS TO GO THROUGH THE PRESENTATION)
In the next post, I will show the outcomes and explain what I will do to make the magazine the best it can be for my target audience's wants, needs and expectations.

Third, I interviewed James, who is 40 years old and he lives in Cambridge. He is from the top end of my target market (25-40 year olds).

My School Prospectus - Draft and Photographs
Designing the Draft:
Before I could make my finalised School Prospectus Front Cover and Contents Page, I needed to make a design of the draft, to follow through what I wanted the pages to look like. Using Photoshop, I designed my drafts of the Front Cover and the Contents Page. This what the drafts looked like:
Photographs:
I took many photographs. Here are all of them with an explanation of why I chose or didn't choose each photograph:
I chose to include this photograph in my School Prospectus (Preliminary Task) because it shows a Sixth Former working in a Study Room and using his time wisely during his Study Periods. This photograph will be included on my FRONT COVER.
I chose to include this photograph in my School Prospectus (Preliminary Task) because it shows one of the many facilities that the school has, which is a Library and it helps all students at the school. This photograph will be included on my FRONT COVER.
I chose to include this photograph in my School Prospectus (Preliminary Task) because it is a MEDIUM SHOT of a Sixth Former in front of the St Mark's Sign. This photograph will be included on my CONTENTS PAGE.
I chose to include this photograph in my School Prospectus (Preliminary Task) because it shows the talent of the students at St Mark's and shows people that St Mark's is full of opportunities. This photograph will be included on my FRONT COVER.
I didn't choose to include this photograph in my School Prospectus (Preliminary Task) because I believe that it wouldn't add anything else to the Front Cover or the Contents Page.
I chose to include this photograph in my School Prospectus (Preliminary Task) because it shows one of the many facilities that the school has, which is the Music Department. This photograph will be included on my FRONT COVER.
I chose to include this photograph in my School Prospectus (Preliminary Task) because it shows two people working together in class and shows people that we are a school that support one another and work together to do well in our studies and exams. This photograph will be included on my FRONT COVER.
I didn't choose to include this photograph in my School Prospectus (Preliminary Task) because I already have two photographs with a person doing something in it.
I chose to include this photograph in my School Prospectus (Preliminary Task) because it shows one of the many facilities that the school has, which is the Design and Technology Department, showing people that the students have many opportunities to express themselves through designing and making things. This photograph will be included on my FRONT COVER.
I chose to include this photograph in my School Prospectus (Preliminary Task) because I will use this as the middle photograph between the two sets of three on the Front Cover to show people what the School Prospectus is about. This photograph will be included on my FRONT COVER.

Nature Magazine (Practising with Photoshop)
PHOTOSHOP (The Nature Magazine Front Cover):
To practice using the software of Photoshop, I designed a Nature Magazine Front Cover. I took the photographs with my group of Daniel, Ani and Nicole. These were my six photographs:
I then started to use Photoshop. After placing my chosen photograph as my background, I changed the brightness, added a Title, two stories, the date and the price. However, I wanted to add another photograph. I chose an image of a bird from Google Images (as it is practice) and decided to try out how to take out the background and leave the image with just the bird. I took me a while, but I learnt how to do it by using the lasso tool. Once I finished with the bird, I copied it over to my magazine front cover and decided on two cover stories to finish it.

Research into the genre of CLASSICAL MUSIC and the CLASSICAL LOOK
Research into the genre:
Music Wordle - From Google Images |
Using the 'MINDNODE PRO' application on my iMac I created a mind-map of some areas of the genre of Classical Music, including:
- Time
- Types of Instruments
- Modern Composers (ALIVE)
- Older Composers (DEAD)
This was to get an understanding of the genre of CLASSICAL MUSIC and what sorts of topics I could look into in more depth for my music magazine.
When designing my music magazine, I will look back at this and put some of these topics, such as history (of dead composers), instruments (advertising new ones or people talking about them) and so on in my contents page, as there will be many articles in the magazine and they're so varied. I will decide whilst picking which types of articles to include and look over the three magazines I analysed.

The Classical look:
Mark Anthony Turnage - Classical Composer |
These artists are wearing smart-casual clothing, however they're not overly formal with their clothing. They wear a smart shirt with a suit jacket or a jumper, but in the case of the male artist (Composer) he is wearing jeans.
When I start to chose what sorts of people to use as the artists for my magazine and the clothing they will wear, I will take into account what I have found here and stick to the theme of smart but not too formal.

ESCALA - The girls in Escala are on a stage (Britain's Got Talent stage). They are wearing simple smart red dresses and holding their individual instruments (stringed instruments) in their hands. They have a professional and smart look about them but they're informal as well, as the dresses, jewellery and hair-styles are not as formal as styles that go to a red carpet or an awards show. The images below show one of their albums and a photoshoot.
